What is blood pressure?

A number of facts about blood pressure

You may not know much about blood pressure. Your father or grandfather may have had problems with blood pressure, but they have entered middle age. High blood pressure (better known as hypertension) is a disease of the elderly.

High blood pressure has never been found in people in their 20s, but it now appears the case is different from before. Is not uncommon for men in the age of 30 have high blood pressure.

"The fact that men have high blood pressure earlier and more than women,". "That's probably because they consume more salt, although there are other factors."

That is why we need to know about blood pressure – what is blood pressure, what number should we have and how to ensure they remain healthy. This is a fact.

What is blood pressure?

Blood pressure, as expected, is pumping the blood vessel walls. If too high, its can damage the arteries and even heart.

Men who suffer from high blood pressure more than the women who suffer from high blood pressure and more frequent in younger age. Overall, the BPA (Blood Pressure Association) says that one in three adults in the UK has high blood pressure and one of them did not know that they have it.

But the situation could be worse than that. According to a recent survey by Lloyds Pharmacy, feared 35% of those aged 16-34 have hypertension, and one of 20 people showed blood pressure of severe or very severe. Experts place the highest results in people who like to consume alcohol and poor diet.

How do you know your blood have high pressure?

The simple answer is quite difficult. Hypertension is one sneaky disease that tends not cause symptoms until significant damage occurs.

Of course you should check blood pressure at regular visits to the doctor. If you have a figure, according to BPA, mean 120/80. If your blood pressure below 120 over 80 you have a lower risk of developing high blood pressure. If it is higher than that, it is also higher risk.

If you do not know what your blood pressure, at least you are aware of several factors that cause high blood pressure. If you are overweight, drink lots of alcohol, eating too much salt and too little eat fruits and vegetables, rarely exercise, and then you are among those at risk for hypertension.

What problems do cause high blood pressure?

High blood pressure is a major cause of stroke, heart attack, heart failure and kidney disease. Obviously it is a cause of health problems, and as said, usually you do not feel symptoms until damage occurs. That is why the disease is referred to as 'hidden killer'.

"Approximately 62 000 deaths from stroke and heart attacks occur because of poor blood pressure,"

Of course if you were 30, you may not be at risk of heart attack. But you can just keep it and develop a lifestyle that causes the rise in blood pressure during the next few years.

There are other things that need attention. Based on research specialist at the University of Athens Greece, men with high blood pressure, two and a half times more likely to suffer from erectile dysfunction rather than men with normal blood pressure.

What can be done to treat high blood pressure?

First, test immediately. BPA believes the man who has a family history of high blood pressure, stroke or heart attack; they should check blood pressure regularly since age 20.

Start with an exercise routine (slowly, if you are long out of practice), eating a healthy diet and reduce alcohol.

Salt is a major factor in high blood pressure so less salt in cooking. But the real culprits i.e. fast food, eating out and take-away food, and processed foods.

All food until breakfast cereals found high levels of salt, so it's wise to check the salt content before buying it.

So, if you feel frustrated on a weekday, go treadmill or take a roll and beat boxing in the garage, it is more healthful.

Low blood pressure

For every yin there is. But in this case, the opposite of hypertension - hypotension - are rarely found so any need to worry.

Sometimes blood pressure can fall to the lowest point; if this happens see a doctor immediately. However, the frequent low blood pressure is good for health, because the lower your blood pressure, the lower the risk of stroke or heart attack.
